The Total Care Option (TCO) would enable the school to cover the out of pocket costs and premiums of any family members that enroll in the spouse’s health plan. This could save our school district $10k per enrollee while providing an incredible employee perk: 100% coverage of a family’s health costs.
Viewing the survey data via the chart below, we see that only 19% of 140 responders have no penalty for adding their spouse to their health insurance policy (which is the school’s current setup). 37% of responders have a spousal surcharge or exclusion.
